  • 'Statement on Safeguarding of Children' - Ed Balls

  • 'National Education Business Partnership Network conference' - Sarah McCarthy-Fry
The global economic crisis has cast a long shadow over many organisations in the UK. And at times like these, it can be difficult to think beyond short to medium term financial survival. To think about the benefits of fostering closer relationships between schools and industry. To think about developing talent that might not bear fruit in weeks or months – but in years. And that’s why today I want to discuss the nature of this relationship and how we can develop it in the future.

  • 'Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Annual Conference' - Jim Knight
I am delighted and honoured to be asked to speak to you and what has become possibly the most important conference on the education calendar. It is an extraordinary sign of your individual and collective success that this is the event that prime ministers and secretaries of state have been coming to set out their stall on education. We’re living and working in a time of unprecedented opportunity. With the rapid expansion of technology, innovation, and global partnerships, the world is becoming a smaller place, and opportunity is expanding.

  • 'Sixth Form Colleges Forum (Speaking Note)' - Jim Knight

  • 'Sex and Relationships Education' - Jim Knight
Sex education is a serious subject that we should not shy away from, which is why I welcome this debate. It is the Government’s ambition not only to build a world-class education and children’s services system for our young people but to make this country the best place in the world to grow up. Sex and relationships are a crucial part of the process of growing up, and our approach to those relationships, the choices that we make and our ability to keep ourselves safe is what marks us as independent, free-thinking adults. All are fundamentals of any good education.
